2014 Summer Reading Programm

Booky Close Up SmallWe're hosting a summer reading program to encourage kids to have fun reading in German and to keep their language skills fresh.

The program is open to kids 4-18 reading in German, and it's okay to have an adult read to the kids too!  Everyone who registers will receive a coupon. Just send us your name, age and hometown/state, and we'll send you a coupon worth 10% off your next book order.

You don't need to register to join in the fun. We've created several free downloads, similar to ones you might use for your public library summer reading program. Kids are all motivated by different things - some by prizes, some like to make lists, and others like to count the minutes. We've got something for everyone!

In addition, we'll be having 2 raffles (July 15 and August 15). All reading must be in German, but the entries can be in German or English.  No purchase is necessary to participate.

To enter, you'll need to submit via e-mail any of the following:

  • Sommer Lesespass - count the minutes you read by coloring in the apples. Color at least 15 apples before submitting
  • Reading log - use "Meine Bücherliste" or make your own reading log to track the books you read;  include the book's title, but you could also add the author, number of pages, even genre
  • Book report - use "Mein Buchbericht" or make your own simple book report form
  • Book Review - see our blog for some examples
  • A photo, scan or picture of a project relating to a book you've read

Feel free to print out the Information page about the 2014 Summer Reading Program with forms, coupon and raffle information to share with your friends.
