The Alphabet Garten Story

The Alphabet Garten Story

Thea & Erik

We, Thea and Erik, live in the Pacific Northwest with our 2 children. Both children speak and read German fluently, so we are very familiar with both the challenges and rewards of raising bilingual children.

Our store, Alphabet Garten, was founded in 2003, and after being customers for many years, we took over the reins in 2012. The original owner, Sarah Mueller, and her German husband wanted to raise their children bilingually but found it difficult to find German childrens books in the US. Her dream of easily accessible, high quality German language books became a reality with the start of Alphabet Garten, and a great resource for other bilingual families like ours. We are delighted to be part of the Alphabet Garten story!

We continue to provide an outstanding selection of German books and multimedia for children. All but a few of our titles are imported from Europe and are popular right now with kids in Germany (and other German-speaking countries). We offer a wide selection including titles useful for beginners through native speakers, music, computer software, German DVDs, magazines, and more. Suggestions for other items we should carry are always welcome.

We are thrilled that Alphabet Garten customers trust us to help them give their children great German language resources. We invite anyone looking for German children's books, music, DVDs and other items, to browse the Alphabet Garten website, send a note, or call. We are a home-based business, so we may not answer the phone right away, but we will call you back! We look forward to hearing from you!

Viele Grüße,
Thea and Erik
