Bilingual Family Stories

Family Stories are the personal recollections of parents who are raising their child or children bilingually. Such stories are especially helpful because they illustrate how many different ways there are to handle the challenges bilingual families face:

• What pattern of language use is preferred and why?
• Does this pattern change around monolingual friends and family?
• At what point do the children start communicating in German? How are late talkers encouraged?
